Join me in the Spring of 2024, in the beautiful Hilltowns of Western Massachusetts for:
Becoming the Wise Woman:
Yoga & Ayurvedic Care for a Graceful Menopause
Date tba!
Menopause is a word that tends to strike confusion or anxiety in most of us. It is a time of life that is often rejected, avoided, and even tends to be pathologized as a disease by Western medicine. Menopausal women have been invisibilized and marginalized in our culture, too.
It's likely that most of what you've learned about menopause is untrue, and has been intended (purposefully or not) to make you fear this rite of passage.
Menopause is NOT a disease, nor is it something to be eradicated or avoided. It is a natural and radical transformative process that can bring, to those who embrace it, greater empowerment and a more expressive and discerning wisdom and strength.
This change is both entirely natural and inevitable, and thus is best viewed as NOT a cause for anxiety or grief, NOR something that needs to be “fixed" by our disintegrating healthcare system, but rather, a time of life that is a natural and potentially empowering, beautiful process—an initition--into the very kind of human being that is so vastly needed in our day and age. Through it, you become a Wisdom Keeper, a Wise Woman.

I invite you to join me to learn what I've discovered through my own transition: the facts, concepts, ideas and theories; the sensible shifts needed to manage the change; the somatic and spiritual practices that can help navigate the initiation of menopause holistically and sensibly (and even without Hormone Replacement Therapy).
These healing, empowering and nourishing practices helped me dismantle a lifetime of internalized conditioning that had made me fear and resist becoming an "old woman".
This workshop is for those who:

These healing, empowering and nourishing practices helped me dismantle a lifetime of internalized conditioning that had made me fear and resist becoming an "old woman".
This workshop is for those who:
- are still in their menstruating years;
- are in perimenopause - right in the midst of the "initiation" process;
- have passed through the initiation of menopause to the other side - the wise woman!
We'll learn:
- menopause basics - what it is, how it generally unfolds AND an empowering hypothesis on why it happens;
- how and why the Western medical establishment and culture often pathologizes what is entirely natural;
- the real issues and concerns that plague and stress women as they enter this "time of life";
- more pragmatic, less condemning beliefs about female bodies in transition;
- grounding, beneficial and freeing perspectives on the wise woman life after menopause.
We'll experience:
All of the practices are designed to work together or alone. Most cost nothing other than a few minutes of time. All of them can be done by anyone who wants to experience greater wellbeing as they age.
When done consistently, their benefits compound and accrue over weeks, months and years, to ultimately provide a sensible, non pharmaceutical, self-empowered means to taking control of and easing this initiation--helping to balance your life, and ideally, to embrace and find joy in your new wise woman body.
You'll receive:
Learn about your own potential to become the kind of human that is embodied by the loving, truthful, discerning and fearless feminine power of the Wise Woman.
- a Vedic goddess myth that helps dimantle partriarchal misconceptions about women's power;
- a beautiful, simple Sanskrit mantra to balance, strengthen and empower before, during and after this transition;
- simple pranayama practices to do every day to help bring balance - and a special pranayama practice that helps ease hot flashes;
- a grounding yogasana sequence that both alleviates stress and nourishes our mind/body as it transitions;
- three simple daily practice rituals of self care (dinacharya) from the wisdom of Ayurveda that help ease this rite of passage.
