Join me in Colcester, Connecticut this December at The Practice Room for
Ashtanga Yoga
for a
Graceful
Menopause
Saturday December 2, 2023
9-10:30am: Modified Ashtanga yoga for a more Graceful Transition
11-1pm: The Graceful Menopause Workshop
Menopause is a word that tends to strike confusion or anxiety in most of us. It is a time of life that is often rejected ignored or avoided, and it tends to be pathologized as a disease by Western medicine far too often.
Menopausal women have been invisibilized and marginalized in our culture, too. In fact, it's likely that most of what you've learned about menopause is untrue, and may have made you feel anxiety or fear about this natural rite of passage.
Menopause is NOT a disease, nor is it something to be eradicated or avoided. It is a natural and radical transformative process that can bring, to those who embrace it, greater empowerment and a more expressive and discerning wisdom and strength.
This change is both entirely natural and inevitable, and thus is best viewed as NOT a cause for anxiety or grief, NOR something that needs to be “fixed" by our troubled healthcare system, BUT a time of life that is a natural and potentially empowering, beautiful process—an initition--into the very kind of human being that is so vastly needed in our day and age.

I invite you to join me to learn what I've discovered through my own transition: the facts, concepts, ideas and theories; the sensible shifts needed to manage the change; the somatic and spiritual practices that can help navigate the initiation of menopause holistically and sensibly (yes, even without Hormone Replacement Therapy).
Through reverent, consistent practice of yogasana, pranayama, chanting, and ayurvedic self care, the benefits compound and accrue over weeks, months and years, and ultimately can provide a sensible, even non pharmaceutical, self-empowered means to taking control of and easing this initiation--helping to balance your life, and ideally, to embrace and find joy in your new wise woman body.

- more pragmatic, less condemning beliefs about female bodies both in and past this transition
