Tips to Prepare
  • Download Zoom here and create a free account to become familiar with it beforehand.
  • Arrange a place where you can practice in such a way that I can see most of your body, both standing and seated. I will observe your practice and offer alignment or guidance as needed. It helps to place your device about 18 inches from the floor, a minimum of six feet away from your mat, with decent lighting. You and I should be able to see most of each other on the screen. I teach and guide directly with verbal cues for most of the class. I won't do too much demonstrating of the postures themselves - but my yoga workshops may offer both more posture demonstration and guidance - so if you're new, that's the best place to start!
  • If you feel uncomfortable being on live video, no problem: just email me beforehand so we can discuss proper alignment and safe, sensible approaches to doing a postural yoga practice without a teachers "eyes" on you!
  • Be comfortable. Have blocks, blankets or cushions on hand. Set up an additional heat source if your space is cool. We will end with relaxation, so have socks and/or a wrap nearby, and ensure you have enough space to lie down fully.
  • Please try not to eat beforehand. Warm liquids are OK about 30 minutes before.
  • I sometimes teach pranayama - make sure to wash hands well before class as we may be touching our noses for some pranayama practices!
  • If you need to leave early, no worries, just end the zoom class at your convenience. But please do try to take at LEAST five minutes of rest fully prone on the floor at the end of your practice - that's when the magic happens!
Our practice spaces are located on the unceded lands of the Nipmuc, Pocumtuck and Mohican peoples.
