Join me to discover everything you need to make it easy for you to attend my Wednesday Mysore style Ashtanga Sessions at Karuna starting this October. Students who are new to Ashtanga vinyasa yoga are strongly encouraged to attend this workshop before they drop in to live Wednesday Mysore sessions.
In this 90 minute workshop you will learn:
-A beautiful foundational metaphor that encapsulates the benefits, nature and goal(s) of yoga practice.
-A description of the sensible, supportive container of Mysore style Ashtanga practice, and how the Ashtanga method as taught in Mysore sessions is a safe, therapeutic method for all levels of practitioners - including those with injuries.
-The key principles of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga - breathing, internal energy management, and gazing points - and how they relate to and promote the goal of yoga.
-Easy techniques and self-reminders that help you let go of learning anxiety, so that you can experience learning something new and challenging with playfulness, curiosity and even joy - vs. self-judgement or dread.
- A short, basic sequence of breath-oriented Ashtanga surynamaskar/sun salutes, standing, and closing postures that you can practice every day, on your own without direct guidance from a teacher - but are encouraged do with the practice community in the weekly Mysore room, where you can deepen/expand upon this basic sequence, through Michelle’s continued guidance and tutelage.
-A means to experience the internal form of posture, as a way of directing yourself towards the most beneficial, correct and organic external form of posture.
- Why Ashtanga Yoga can be a foundation for a yoga practice you can utilize and adapt for the rest of your life - and how fun Ashtanga practice can be, too!
Feel free to email me with any questions, and/or read these Mysore FAQ!
