OCTOBER SHAKTI COLLECTIVE:

THE PRACTICE OF PICHU:
DIY WARM OIL PACKS FOR WELLNESS

WHEN: Saturday October 4, 2025 - CANCELLED DUE TO LOW ENROLLMENT
WHERE: 709 Main Road Chesterfield, MA
Join Michelle & Joa for community connection and collective care, learning a sensible, adaptable, simple but highly effective Ayurvedic care practice called "Pichu".

We will be sharing two kinds of highly beneficial warm oil application protocols with participants! You can choose to experience one of two different options:

Option One -The Hot Castor Pack/Pichu protocol. This warm oil pack is placed on the lower abdomen OR lower back and covered with a hot water bottle or heating pad for at least an hour. It's primarily used for targeting and addressing stagnation, discomfort or dis-ease in the the small intestine, colon - but can be wonderfully effective at treating issues in the female reproductive system, or to address sacral/low back pain, too. This is a good option to consider if you have digestive challenges such as bloating, gas or constipation or have menstrual issues, including those associated with perimenopause, such as heavy or sporadic menstrual cycles. (Note, if you choose this protocol, you must NOT be actively cycling/bleeding, nor have had any surgeries in the last six months nor any open wounds on your abdomen.)

Option Two - Shiro Pichu/Pack - warm oil compress for the head - Shiro is sanskrit for "head"
 - and this protocol is wonderful if you suffer from issues such as migraines, tension headaches, stress or insomnia. This powerful therapy involves placing an oil-soaked cotton pad on the crown of the head or brow for 30 minutes, allowing the medicated oil to penetrate and calm the nervous system. If you often feel restless, suffer from frequent headaches, or have trouble sleeping, this therapy can bring immense relief!

You can choose to experience one of these two protocols during the workshop, depending upon the issue you would like to have addressed!

Pichu and hot castor packs BOTH utilize warm oil - and warm oil is Ayurveda's #1 line of defense against vata imbalance. Both are generally safe, sensible, soothing and special forms of care - and they are ancient, having been handed down to us from times where humans were once far more connected to Mother Earth and to Nature herself.

SOMATICS/YOGA:
Ding Namaskar - a traditional movement practice/ritual honoring and asking for the blessings of the cardinal directions, will be part of our movement portion for this workshop.

Donation-based offerings

In keeping with the mutualized, collectivized nature of these offerings, these events are donation-based, to ensure that anyone can attend. Still, there is much unseen work and costs that go into these gatherings, as well as the necessity to compensate presenters for their time, expertise, years of study, scholarship and practice.

If you are able to/would like to make a donation in support, that would be highly appreciated!

Suggested donation to attend any session: $20-$35

If this suggested donation inhibits your attendance, no matter!
We want you to be a part of this collective.
Please reach out to us to find out how you can help in lieu of paying any fees.
